Sound Lock™ Soundproof Double Door

The Sound Lock Soundproof Double Door is rated STC 56. View windows lower the rating slightly, as the table shows.

The Sound Lock Soundproof Double Door is available with an optional 60-minute fire rated core. The core goes in both doors. The hardware and hinges are all rated to that 60-minute mark or more. A view window does not change the fire rating.

The Sound Lock Soundproof Double Door starts at $14,750 in oak with standard hardware, for both doors. Upgrades are priced separately and are listed below. Each price covers both doors.

Upgrades are added to both doors. For an upgrade on only one door, request a quote.

For other wood species or an individual door panel over 4' x 8', reach out for pricing. Call us at 1-800-679-8511 and we can quote your project.

The Sound Lock Soundproof Double Door has no center post in the opening. The astragal seal where the doors meet is built into the edge of the passive door. It closes against the active door when both doors are shut.

On the Sound Lock Soundproof Double Door, the active door is the one you use every day, and it has the keyed deadbolt handleset. The passive door normally stays closed and has a passive handleset.

You choose which door is active when you order.

The Sound Lock Soundproof Double Door has a 4 week production lead time. We build each set to order. Non-standard wood species and other customizations may extend the lead time.

Reach out for details. Call us at 1-800-679-8511.

Each door is sized separately, allowing you to get two different widths if desired. Provide the widths and height of both doors when you order. The doors come up to 4' x 8' each. We can build each door up to 5' x 10'.

Wood species are oak (standard), maple, birch, cherry and walnut. Options such as view windows, non-standard hardware colors and the fire rated core are applied to both doors. For an option on only one door, request a quote.

The passive door on the Sound Lock Soundproof Double Door is secured by a rod that runs up through the top of the door. There is no floor pin, so nothing goes into the floor.

The Sound Lock Soundproof Double Door ships as a knockdown frame in most cases. The shipment is 3 frame pieces and 2 door panels, 5 pieces in all, on one pallet. The primary door seals come installed on the panels. The frame is assembled on site with screws and wood glue before it goes into the rough opening.

Yes, we offer four view window sizes for the Sound Lock Soundproof Double Door: 10" x 10", 6" x 28", 22" x 28" and 22" x 56". A 22" wide window needs a door at least 34" wide. Narrower doors take the 10" or 6" windows.

Windows are added to both doors. Every window is an STC 49 Tru Acoustics window. For a window on only one door, request a quote.

The rough opening for the Sound Lock Soundproof Double Door should be 2" wider and 1.5" taller than the dimensions of both doors. Double-stud the opening, because the doors are heavy. If you frame with metal studs, make the second stud wood.

For help planning your opening, call us at 1-800-679-8511.

The Sound Lock Soundproof Double Door arrives with a knockdown frame, and each door weighs about 400 lb, so we recommend a team install. First, assemble the frame with screws and wood glue. Then set the frame in a double-studded rough opening and hang each door using the same hinge, shim and seal steps as a single door.

Read the full Sound Lock Soundproof Door install guide before you start. Call us at 1-800-679-8511 with any questions and we can talk through your project.

The Sound Lock Soundproof Double Door fits any wall thickness. The standard jamb suits walls up to 6" thick. For thicker walls, we add a double door jamb extension kit.

For help sizing the kit, call us at 1-800-679-8511.

For electronic locking on the Sound Lock Soundproof Double Door, we recommend a mag lock. An electronic strike does not work on a double door because the two doors close into each other.

Another option is two separate Sound Lock Soundproof Doors with a mullion, each closing into its own latch. We then use single-latch hardware, and you can install an electronic strike the same way as on a single door. Call us at 1-800-679-8511 and we can talk through it.
