Yes, the Tru Acoustics STC 49 and STC 56 windows were tested to ASTM E90 by an independent lab. If you need a certified test report for your project, choose one of those two models. The STC 58 custom quoted window is also lab tested to ASTM E90.

You can order any size by adding mullions, vertical or horizontal, in any number. Without a mullion, the largest glass sizes are 4' x 8' for the STC 45 and STC 56 windows and 5' x 10' for the STC 49 window. Yes, Tru Acoustics is made for recording studios and control rooms. For studios, we offer 4° angled glass on the STC 45 and STC 56 windows. The angle keeps reflected sound from bouncing straight back into a microphone. Angle the glass down, with the top of the angle toward the control room. The minimum window height for angled glass is 18".

Tru Acoustics is a complete, fixed interior window that installs into a double studded rough opening. We build and test the frame and glass together as one acoustic assembly. Fantastic Frame is a magnetic insert that goes over an existing window instead.

For a fire-rated wall that also needs sound isolation, we recommend a separate fire-rated window with a Fantastic Frame insert added over it. No soundproof window is fire rated, because fire rating and sound isolation need different frame parts.

Frame the rough opening 1/2" wider and 1/2" taller than the window frame, and double-stud it because the window is heavy. Leave a 1/4" gap around the frame and seal it with acoustical sealant. The glass snaps into the frame at the job site. Place the rubber setting blocks before the glass goes in. We also offer an install kit that includes shims, screws, acoustical sealant and backer rod. Tru Acoustics windows ship in a protective crate. The frame and glass are packed separately on the same pallet, and the glass snaps into the frame at the job site.

Standard glass is low-iron safety glass. Options include one-way mirror glass, anti-reflective glass and Opti-white glass. One-way glass works when one side is bright and the other is dim, so plan light dimmers on both sides. Reach out to us for pricing and details on the options. For tinting, we recommend a local tint installer, who can match your color on site.

Yes, Tru Acoustics can be built as a split frame for double-wall construction with decoupled studs. A frame sits on each side of the wall, with an acoustical core between them. A minimum 2" air gap between the frames is needed to reach STC 56 or better, and a larger gap performs better. The table compares the two options. Tru Acoustics windows have an anodized aluminum frame and low-iron safety glass. We fill the frame at the factory with a 13-layer acoustical core.
