Product FAQs

RSIC-DC04 is our most versatile RSIC clip. It works with 25 gauge hat channel with a hemmed edge detail run vertically. It also fits low-profile walls as shallow as 1/2", ceiling fan blocking, and wire-hung drywall grid ceilings. It fastens to wood, steel, and concrete. It also isolates garage door motors and rails, vent fans, speakers, projector mounts, and electrical boxes.

RSIC-DC04 is the pick for vertical channel, low-profile walls, ceiling fan blocking, and wire-hung ceilings. The 25 gauge hat channel with a hemmed edge detail screws into RSIC-DC04, while it snaps into RSIC-1. Because the channel is screwed, it cannot slide down when it runs vertically. RSIC-1 remains our standard clip for new walls and ceilings.

Yes, you can install a ceiling fan on an isolated ceiling by isolating the blocking between the joists with RSIC-DC04 clips. A single clip holds 144 lbs in this setup. Two clips used together hold 288 lbs.

RSIC-DC04 is best for ceiling drops of about 6" to 12" from a concrete slab, hung from wire. For shallower drops of 2-5/8" to 6", see RSIC-1 ADM. For drops of 12"+, see RSIC-WHI.

At 24" x 48" o.c., plan on about 1 clip for every 5 sq ft of ceiling. That spacing supports up to 2 layers of 5/8" drywall. For 1 layer of 5/8" Type C drywall, you can space the clips up to 48" x 48" o.c. Call us at 1-800-679-8511 for an exact clip count for your ceiling.
