Mega Zorbe™ - Hydrophobic Melamine Foam

Mega Zorbe goes inside car door cavities, on the roof above the headliner, and behind van wall panels. The door cavity is the most common spot. On a roof, plan for 100% coverage and at least 1/2" of headliner clearance. Always install Mega Zorbe on the interior of the vehicle, never on the floor, because walking on it will damage the foam.

Mega Zorbe has a Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) of 0.40. The table shows how much it absorbs at each frequency.

Mega Zorbe is our thin, 1/2" melamine foam, and its most common spot is inside door cavities. Mega Zorbe Pro is 1" or 2" thick, so it absorbs more and suits bigger cavities in SUVs, vans, and trucks.

Yes, Mega Zorbe is hydrophobic. It is the same melamine foam as standard melamine foam, treated to repel water all the way through. In ASTM D2842 testing, it absorbed less than 1.5% water after 15 minutes and less than 4% after 96 hours.

Peel & Stick Mega Zorbe is the easiest to install, since you press the foam straight onto clean metal. No Adhesive Mega Zorbe installs with P329 spray adhesive, which bonds foam to foam and suits stacked layers.

Yes, Mega Zorbe can improve your car audio when you install it inside the door cavity or above the headliner. The foam absorbs sound that would otherwise bounce around inside the cavity. That reduces noise from the door or roof and helps your speakers sound better. For best results, install it on top of Damplifier Pro or a liquid deadener like Spectrum.

Yes, Mega Zorbe is UL 94 V-0 certified. It is also Class A fire rated according to ASTM E84, with a flame spread below 25 and smoke developed below 50.

To install Mega Zorbe, remove the headliner or plastic panels to expose bare sheet metal. Clean the metal with denatured alcohol. Cut the foam to size with a sharp utility knife or scissors, leaving room to reinstall your trim. Press on the Peel & Stick foam, or use P329 spray adhesive on the No Adhesive version. Yes, you can stack Mega Zorbe on itself if you have clearance. Order the No Adhesive version for stacking. Use P329 spray adhesive on both surfaces, wait 2-4 minutes until tacky, and press for several minutes. In a door cavity, check window clearance before adding layers.

Mega Zorbe works from -40°F to 350°F. It also insulates, with an R-value of 4.16 per inch. For very hot spots like an engine compartment, we recommend Mega Block, which adds a 1000°F foil heat shield.

Hydrophobic melamine foam is open cell melamine foam treated to repel water. Mega Zorbe has that treatment through its full thickness, which makes it safe to use in vehicles. The open cell structure absorbs medium and high frequency noises inside the vehicle.
