How do I install Heat Wave Pro?

To install Heat Wave Pro, first remove the headliner, upholstery or carpet to expose bare sheet metal. Clean the surface, using denatured alcohol as needed. Cut Heat Wave Pro to size and leave room to reinstall your trim. You can install it with either spray adhesive or Super Strong Double Sided Tape. When choosing a spray adhesive, use P329 spray adhesive or 3M 90 to adhere it to your surface. Spray P329 on both Heat Wave Pro and the surface, wait 2-4 minutes until tacky, then press firmly for several minutes. Seal exposed edges and seams with foil tape. How do I cut Heat Wave Pro?

Scissors cut Heat Wave Pro for most jobs. A utility knife also works. For larger jobs, an electric fabric cutter with a self-sharpening blade is fastest.

How far should Heat Wave Pro be from a heat source?

Keep a 2" air gap between Heat Wave Pro and any direct heat source.

What is the R-value of Heat Wave Pro?

Heat Wave Pro has an R-value of 3.91 per inch. The table also shows the R-value when heat flows up, down and sideways. Upward heat flow matters most in winter, when a warm interior meets a cold roof. Downward heat flow matters most in summer, when a hot roof sits over a cooler interior. The directional values are higher because of the foil on both sides. For most engine compartments, we recommend Mega Block. It has a peel-and-stick adhesive, so it is easier to install, and it is generally our more premium option. Mega Block is thicker, more rigid, and should not be compressed. We recommend Heat Wave Pro when the job needs something very flexible, such as sharp curves or tighter spaces. It is thinner, flexible, and compressible.
