Sound Lock™ Double Door Astragal Seal

The Sound Lock Astragal Seal closes the gap between the two doors of a double door. It has two housings, one on each door. Spring-loaded plungers pull the doors together as they close, and magnets hold them tight for an airtight fit. It has no adjustment screws.

Measure from the top of the door jamb to the floor. Choose a seal the same size as, or slightly bigger than, that height. Standard lengths are 80", 84" and 96". Custom lengths up to 120" are available by quote.

Yes, you can trim the Sound Lock Astragal Seal to any length. Leave the magnetic astragal assembled and cut only from the bottom end. Never trim the end with the red label. It is the reference end for aligning the internal parts.

Install the Sound Lock Astragal Seal so the magnets pull the two doors together as they close. Follow these steps:

1. Measure from the top of the door jamb to the floor to choose the seal length.
2. Trim from the bottom end only if needed, with the magnetic astragal assembled.
3. For a metal door, drill pilot holes before you fasten the seal.
4. Mount the seal so the gap between the two housings is 7/16".
5. Close the doors and check for light gaps between them.

The ideal gap between the two housings of the Sound Lock Astragal Seal is 7/16". Anywhere from 3/8" to 1/2" works.

If an existing astragal blocks the Sound Lock Astragal Seal from mounting, run Sound Lock Gasket Seal Tape across it instead. Use two rows side by side for better coverage. The tape is 3/8" wide, so two rows cover about 3/4".
