Product FAQs

How many baffles you need depends on your application, room size, how much echo you have, and how far apart you hang them. Try our acoustic calculator for an estimate with traditional 16" spacing, or call us at 1-800-679-8511 to work out a plan together.

Wave Baffles hang on edge from the corkscrew hangers that come with them. Screw one hanger into each of two opposite edges. Place each one at least 3" in from the edge and centered along the thickness. Use light downward pressure until only the eyelet shows. Loop your light-duty cable through each eyelet and close the loop with a cable clamp. Then anchor the cable to the roof deck or ceiling structure. See our Wave Baffle install guide for every step.

The pattern, thickness, and hanging hardware are different. Wave Baffles have a curved profile, are 2" thick, and use corkscrew hangers that come in the box. Egg Crate Baffles are 3" thick and have grommets already installed. Both are 24" x 48" (8 sq ft). Egg Crate Baffles absorb more at 125 Hz and 250 Hz (4.17 and 6.50 sabins versus 1.00 and 5.40 for Wave Baffles). Wave Baffles absorb more at higher frequencies, reaching 24.00 sabins at 4000 Hz.

Yes, Mela Mute Wave Baffles are Class A fire rated. Under ASTM E84, the foam scores a flame spread of 10 and a smoke developed rating of 50.
