CelluZorbe™ HD Soundproofing Backer

The CelluZorbe HD Soundproofing Backer is rated STC 15 for sound blocking and NRC 0.50 for sound absorption. When installed behind drywall, it will improve the assembly's STC rating because it both blocks and absorbs. It is also used as a backer in stretch fabric systems.

The CelluZorbe HD Soundproofing Backer is an actual 2' x 4' (24" x 48"), meant to be installed behind drywall, behind a stretch fabric system, or to construct a soundproof box. The CelluZorbe HD Ceiling Tile Backer is cut to a nominal 2' x 4' (23.75" x 47.75") so it can lay on top of existing drop ceiling tiles to control noise across a shared plenum.

The CelluZorbe HD Soundproofing Backer cuts like a wood panel. Use a table saw. No special blade is required. For outlets and switches, press on the board to locate the outlet, then cut around it with a utility knife.

The wall needs 100% coverage, so if the CelluZorbe HD Soundproofing Backer ends up 1/4" or less short at the bottom, seal the gap with acoustical sealant. If the gap is larger than 1/4", cut a strip of CelluZorbe HD to plug the hole.
