Most people find their way to us because they’re looking for help fixing a noise problem, and acoustic panels are a key tool for improving sound quality in a space. While a fabric wrapped panel won’t do anything for soundproofing (it won’t block any sound), it’s excellent for sound absorption and echo reduction in an interior space. Improving acoustics is a key part of sound control, whether you want to improve the quality of sound in a recording studio or increase speech intelligibility in a restaurant. Or starting in 2020, you may want to ensure you sound professional for all those those Zoom calls from your home office. We’ve got you covered.
Fabric wrapped acoustic panels are the right answer for many acoustic problems, because of their attractive aesthetics, long-lasting durability, and effective sound absorption. Our Acoustic Pro panels are made right here in the USA and come in many shapes and sizes, so you can improve the sound quality in any room.

How Do Fabric Acoustic Panels Work?
Sound radiates in all directions from its source. In an open field with no obstructions, high and low frequency sound waves will travel indefinitely through the air and slowly dissipate as they get further and further away. In a room, sound reverberates off hard surfaces (mostly the walls) and can actually “build up” in a space. If you’ve ever created a make-shift speaker by sticking your phone in a cup, you’ve seen this principle in action.
Acoustic panels help absorb these reverberations and echoes so the sound doesn’t continue to bounce and carry through a space. This allows you to hear sound from the source clearly and without interference, whether that be your surround sound system, a performer on stage, or your beautiful partner across the table from you at a noisy restaurant.
Imagine shining a powerful laser pointer in a room full of mirrors, it would be nearly impossible to track the source of the laser as the beam would bounce continually throughout the room. But cover those mirrors with black paint, and it quickly becomes clear and apparent where the laser is coming from because it can no longer reflect off of any surfaces. Think of the black paint as acoustic panels, and the laser as sound.
Fabric wrapped acoustic panels can help improve:
- Speech intelligibility - Hear conversations more clearly without as much background noise.
- Audio quality - listen or record audio from people, instruments, or sound systems without worry of echo or interference
- Privacy - Panels absorb sound and keep it from traveling outside a space to keep conversations private and limit distractions (think room dividers or cubicles)
Where Should I Install Acoustic Panels
Fabric wrapped acoustic panels are pretty versatile, but if you’re still not sure if they are the right solution for you, here’s a few examples of the types of places that can benefit from sound absorbing panels.
Rooms with crowds or machinery
40 people having a quiet conversation in a confined space still makes for a very loud room. Add to that machinery like office equipment or exercise machines and the environment quickly becomes unpleasant. Acoustic panels have a high NRC rating and will quiet the background noise so the room isn’t unpleasantly loud and people can more clearly speak to each other.
- Restaurants
- Classrooms
- Offices
- Gyms
Speaker or performance focused spaces
Louder does not always equate to ‘easier-to-hear’. Sometimes a speaker or a performer can be difficult to understand because of echoes. Adding acoustic panels will reduce the echoes commonly heard in large rooms so that a speaker’s voice will still carry without being muddled. This is a key part of any church acoustics design.
- Conference rooms
- Houses of worships
- Auditoriums
- Concert Halls
At home
Many of our customers utilize spaces in their home for work or hobbies that can be loud. Look for spaces you want to keep conversations private, or rooms that tend to be loud enough to hear throughout the house.
- Home offices
- Home theaters
- Workshops
Recording environments
When recording, crisp audio is crucial. Microphones can pick up background noise and echoes. Acoustic panels will reduce the reverberation time in a room so the mic doesn’t pick up unwanted noise.
- Recording studios
- Podcasting
